When planning a wedding, we know there’s so much to do and so much to think about. If you just got engaged or are starting the planning process, we understand that you might be feeling a little bit overwhelmed. What do I do now? Where do I start? First, take a deep breath and remember that this process should be fun! And then take it one step at a time. While there is stuff to plan, just remember that you are getting to marry your best friend at the end of it all and that’s pretty stinking awesome!
Putting together a stellar vendor team for your wedding is one of the most important aspects of planning your wedding. People place a lot of pressure on choosing vendors and the main reason is because on your actual wedding day, you (as the bride or groom) should not have to worry about the details. You both should relax, enjoy your friends and family, and let the people you hired take care of the event. These are the people you will be working with over the next year, and are the people you will be trusting to make your day run smoothly and also fun for everyone. With that being said, there are hundreds of different vendors out there! How in the world to you narrow it down and find the perfect team for you and your fiancé(e)? In order to help guide you, I have decided that I am going to highlight each of my preferred vendors so that you guys can learn a little more about them, find out some information on their services, and hopefully set up a meeting so you can see how awesome they are in person!
To kick off this Preferred Vendor Spotlight series, I’m starting with an introduction to DJ Romin from Zandi Entertainment! He is someone I know that couples will be able to trust because not only is Djing his passion and what he does full-time, but he also always has his client’s best interest at heart. This, to me, is priceless. I have had the pleasure of working with many different wedding professionals but there are definitely some that stand out among the rest as they really care about what they do and care about their client’s experience. A wedding DJ has specific duties that require a variety of traits to be effective, reliable, and to make your wedding a fun, memorable event, and Zandi Entertainment is just that. They are based in Northern Virginia but travel all around for their events! So without further adieu, I would like to introduce Romin Zandi from Zandi Entertainment to you all!
How did you get started as a DJ, and how long have you been in business?
I started Djing back in my early years at school. I was attending a lounge where I had the opportunity to see a DJ perform. That night I ended up meeting a friend who became to be my mentor and helped me in my path of learning how to DJ. I have been Djing for 6 years now.
What is your favorite thing about working weddings?
I love Djing weddings because it’s such a beautiful and emotional filled day. It’s so great to see two families come together to celebrate the special day for that couple. My favorite part of weddings are the couples I get to work with. I love the planning process because it’s where I am able learn more about their exact vision for their night. From there, it’s my job to execute and bring their vision to life!
What is included when a couple books you for their wedding? What services do you provide?
I offer two different packages for my couples weddings. My first package includes a set-up for the cocktail hour and the reception. This package covers a 5-hour reception. My second package is designed for couples who need an additional set up with microphones and music for the ceremony on-top of the cocktail and reception set-up. This package covers up to 6-hour reception. Included in each package are online planning tools to help with song selection and timeline organization. Lastly, I meet with all my clients 1-2 months prior to their wedding for our final planning meeting to go over their timeline details and go over their song selections. They usually leave this meeting with homework. 🙂
What advice do you have for brides in choosing the right DJ for them?
I recently wrote a new blog talking about my favorite tips for hiring the perfect wedding DJ. You can view it here: 5 Tips for Hiring the Perfect Wedding DJ
What do you recommend for couples in choosing the playlist for their big day? What is the process like with you when selecting their music?
Music is the soundtrack to your wedding and you hear it throughout every aspect of your wedding! We recommend thinking of songs that you love to listen on a daily basis, when you go out dancing, songs that you and your significant grew up dating to, hanging with friends, road-trips with your family, etc. Many of my couples envision a packed and high-energy dance floor. To achieve this, we recommend also thinking about your guests who will be attending the reception and songs that will get them dancing and put a smile on their face! When I meet with my couples at our final planning meeting I help them allocate their song choices to fit the ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner or for dancing. There is always the right moment for each to song to be played.
What are your top two wedding songs to get the party going?!
My favorite two songs that get the crowd going at weddings are “Danza Kudero” by Don Omar & “I Want You Back” by The Jackson 5.
What are the benefits of having an experienced DJ, and how can you make their wedding/reception experience better?
There are so many benefits to having an experienced DJ. I will list a few of my favorites: 1) Someone who is experienced will have a better understanding of your vision for your day and be able to properly execute that. 2) Having good communication skills is a must throughout the planning process. Working with someone who understands these two concepts will help couples enjoy themselves and have a sense of peace of mind knowing that their wedding will go the way they have envisioned it!
We hope that you enjoyed this series and got a chance to learn more about this awesome DJ, what he can do for you, and how you can contact him! Stay tuned for the next vendor highlight!
